Residential Recycling in Woodstock

Free recycling is offered to all Woodstock residents, with or without garbage service. The City of Woodstock has established a recycling program for its residents in an effort to conserve landfill space and natural resources. Pick up is the same day as garbage pick up and must be placed in a container. Residents may use their own or purchase one at City Hall.

Recyclables should be placed loose in the container. They should not be bagged in plastic and no plastic bags should be included in the recycling tote. Cardboard should be broken down to 3 ft. x 3 ft. or smaller and bundled if excessive. Do not cram other items into cardboard boxes.

Yard Waste Pickup in City of Woodstock

Yard waste collection starts the first full week in April and ends the last full week in November each year. Yard waste includes yard materials such as grass clippings, weeds, leaves, cut up branches and brush. Yard waste may not be mixed with other refuse and is picked up on the same day as the refuse/recycling collection. All yard waste must be placed in separate containers from garbage and recycling.

A yard waste sticker must be affixed to each bag, bundle or can in order to be properly picked up by MDC Environmental Services. If using a can or reusable container, please be certain that the can/container is clearly marked that this is yard waste.

Yard waste stickers cost $3.38 and are available at City Hall and the Library.

Bulky Item Collection in Woodstock

There are two options to dispose a bulk item, which is defined as an item that is too large to fit within a normal garbage container (e.g., couch, love seat, table, chair, etc.).

  • Residents who rent the garbage tote are allowed to set out one per week free of charge
  • Residents using the sticker program may dispose of these by attaching one sticker to each individual bulk item

Note that items purchased as a set may represent multiple bulk items (e.g., a dining room table set that includes a table and four chairs would represent 5 bulk items).

Residents may purchase a sticker for one addtional bulk item per week.
