Residential Trash Service
MDC Environmental Services provides Harvard residents with a 95-gallon waste container, specifically designed to accommodate the needs of larger families and households that generate higher volumes of waste. Overage or extras can be placed in bags or personal cans not exceeding 32 gallons or 50 pounds andwill be billed at $25/per cubic yard.

Residential Recycling in Harvard
With MDC recycling service in Harvard, each household is supplied with a 65-gallon recycling toter, specifically designed to handle various recyclable materials efficiently. It is important to note that trash cans are not an acceptable alternative for storing or setting out recycling. Using the designated toter ensures proper collection and processing, supporting the community's commitment to sustainable practices.
Recyclables should be placed loose in the container. They should not be bagged in plastic and no plastic bags should be included in the recycling tote. Cardboard should be broken down to 3 ft. x 3 ft. or smaller and bundled if excessive. Do not cram other items into cardboard boxes.
Yard Waste Pickup in City of Harvard
Please contact us for annual subscription rates and individual sticker fees. All yard waste must be contained in 32-gallon kraft paper bags or 32-gallon garbage cans not to exceed 50 pounds. Each container must have a yard waste sticker on it in order to be collected. Each yard waste sticker covers the removal of one of the above containers one time.
Stickers can be purchased at City Hall, Heyer True Value, and Sullivan Foods.
Please remember that you must call our office to sign up for yard waste collection service. We will be unable to pick up yard waste for residents that are not signed up for this service.
Harvard Leaf Vacuum Service
Leaf collection by vacuum service will take place for 8 weeks each fall and once each spring. Accumulations of leaves, small twigs, and similar materials from residential vegetation that can be raked to the curbside by the resident shall be collected by a vacuum-collection tube with an opening of 6 inches or less.
The resident is responsible for placing the leaf piles at/along the curbside, but off of the street, where they are accessible to the colleciton vehicle.
